I have an Abit KG7 motherboard with 512 Samsung DDR Ram, Athlon Xp 1800+ DFI's ATI Radeon 7000, 40 Gb. MAxtor Dx740 and 17" monitor. The question is which one is better DFI's AD73 Pro(VIA KT266A) or Abit's KG7(AMD 760)? I read the benchmarks and clearly says that kt266a is better. I was questioning myself about changing my actual mobo (kg7) with an ad73pro. What do you think?

You aren't planning on buying a 266a motherboard are you? Those days are over. It's all about the Nforce2 today. I'd recommend taking the 2% performance hit and using a Sis 735 based motherboard before using the 266a.

Nah, the Sis 745 is MUCH bettet, as proved in the benchmarks. It beats the KT266A and even the KT333 in some benchmarks. It is also EXTREMELY stable. For the best board you want the MSI 745 Ultra

Your board is fine but if yo are getting a new board, then you should go for a Nforce2. The kt266a is old.

Either or. Whichever offers more features. I like the onboard sound and lan though and I don't think the Sis745 boards offer onboard lan.

Get a nForce2 mobo. If you can't spend much, there's MSI K7N2-L and Epox 8RDA for you

Well actually I wasnt thinking on buying a new mobo, I already have the AD73pro (remainings of a pc upgrade to kt333). Also I forgot to mention that my HDD is ATA 133 capable but wirh Abit's Kg7 only ATA 100 is provided, DFI AD73 Pro provides ATA 133 support. However nobody answer the question in the way is has to be, maybe this way you'll see what I was thinking: You have on right hand and Abit KG7 and on the left hand DFI AD73Pro wich one you choose?.

Thanks

True, true. My Sis745 mobo doesnt have onboard LAN, which is a bit annoying. However it does have onboard sound, which is good (better than my old SB16 ISA - and that WAS a good card).

Ok, the KT266A chipset is faster than the AMD 760. I can't really see any reason for changing if your current system is running fine and stable unless you really want that performance difference. The difference between ATA100 and ATA133 is minimal.
