Interview conducted by Travis Meacham.

Tom's Games talks with F.E.A.R. 2 Engine Architect John O'Rorke from Monolith Productions about some of the new technology resident in the upcoming sequel and our fears about a console influence on the PC version.

So we get higher resolution textures and stuff for the pc, but will they aim it at only the 32 bit versions, making it irrelevant if you have 4, 6, 8 or 12gb of memory (4gig being the minimum for a new gaming pc today anyway).
imo people like me with a 64bit vista should be able to enjoy smaller load times as they could fit more of the game into memory, and bullet holes and other stuff that dissappeared in the first game, and probably will on consoles too, should have the option of being permanent. Persistent thru gamesaves (preferably with an option to turn it off for faster saves).

Anyway, it's definetly a game I'll consider buying. I just loved the first one. I just hope it's more scare and less dumb-action than I gathered from the interview - cause there's plenty of dumb shooters around atm.

I feel like this sequel is too little too late and I'll probably be spending my hard earned money on other titles. When the first game came out, it was one of the best looking games out, but this sequel doesn't look like it'll be following in those footsteps; they're using the same engine they used in 2005.

Once I heard Xbox 360 primary development I thought to myself "yet another console port".
Goddamnit ppl..u remember what happened to Ion Storm with their crappy console port Dues Ex2.... wish I could pretend that game never happened.

when i first saw that, i thought, "sweet, another fear game!" when i started thinking about it though, i started to get afraid that this was going to be a bit more of the same, run through corridors, kill unnamed enemies, have spooky hallucinations. or if they do do that, i hope they do it so well that it feels fresh.
