Would the Gigabyte 8SG800 Mainboard with 400DDR Ram be much faster (for gaming) than a Asus P4PE (basic mainboard without SATA) with 333DDR Ram. In other words, would the 400DDR Ram produce faster gaming.

Thanks,

Actually dude, the difference in performance between PC2700 (333Mhz) and PC3200 (400Mhz) is so close to nothing that it is not worth the money to go into a board w/400Mhz RAM. Now, if you're looking for great gaming board, you should look into a board that has Nvidia's NForce 2 chipset on it, which would allow you to double you RAM's bandwidth if you used two channels of RAM on the motherboard. Even on these motherboards, though they supposedly use 40Mhz DDR RAM better, I still think going with a good brand-name stick (or for an NForce 2 based board, two sticks) of RAM such as Samsung, Corsair, Crucial, etc, etc.. check out Tom's review of these NForce boards here: http://www17.tomshardware.com/mainboard/20030214/index.html

I believe that the Gigabyte 8SG800 does support dual channel DDR400(PC3200).

in benchmarks yes, by 1-5 fps, practically no, much better to invest in low cas latency brand name ddr333, unless you think you may overclock or use the ram in an upcoming system, than ddr400 makes sense
