i currently have Q6600 stock speed 4GB 800mhz RAM 2x8800 GTS 512MB and was wondering what holds me back in games like crysis and what should i there fore upgrade? CPU perhaps?

The CPU/GPU question has been talked to death. Short answer is, if you overclock your cpu to 3.2ghz, you''ll have have to wait at least two years for your cpu to become a issue in games. Crysis will always benefit from a better gpu,.
