When i load up battlefield 2 it wont load because i get an error saying "Need directx 9 or higher to play bf2."

funny thing is i have dx9, and when i installed the game it installs dx9.

someone know if i can delete dx in my files and retry or something?

1st off must say I love BF2, i wasted years on that game!
Directx is a pig to remove but read this and it should help:
http://www.instant-registry-fixes.org/how-can-i-uninstall-directx-9/
I would check what version you are running, type dxdiag in the run section of your start menu and it should say which version you are running at the bottom. Either re-install dx9 off your bf disk or download the last dx9 release from microsoft.
Hope one of these ideas help ya.
Good luck!

By the way dont download any of the software from the instant-reg-fixes site, I havent checked out the software and I dont trust anything offered for download unless it has a proven reputation.

well I tryed the method of uninstalling and installing from the site and only made things worse. I had to do a system restore. I think the problem started when i had to install a dx10 file to play call of duty 5 without it crashing and freezing. All other game work and reconize dx9 but bf2 wont fix.

Any other ideas?

In no way does BF2 hate Vista.
I run a forum for Vista related gaming problems.
Also I have played BF2 on Vista from Beta versions.

Update your driver, GFX and Sound and apply the 1.41 patch to BF2.
