I just bought an ASUS A7N8X Deluxe and Athlon XP 2700 cpu. To cool it I have a Thermaltake Volcano 9.

The volcano 9 is running at full RPM (cpu 40C under load) all the time and I can't seem to get the Q-fan to lower the fan RPM.

I have the volcano 9 plugged into the CPU fan location on the mobo, and have enabled Q-fan in the BIOS (latest rev, 1002).

The volcano has 3 modes of operation: full speed, manual rpm adjust, and temp probe. I have it set to full speed, since I figured the mobo will change RPM with Q-fan.

Well, its not ;-) Any suggestions? RPM seems to be pretty steady at around 5k RPM.

Thanks.

I strongly advise NOT plugging in m/board , the fan draw too much power , could Damage board , you HAVE to use the 3 to 4 pin adapter . this is recommeded by TT , as noted in the installation guide . unfortunatly you shouldn't use Q-fan with this Fan , I'm using same set up
