This file is in my "Program Files" in an "Online Services" folder on my
pc (HP Pavilion, WinXP, SP2) along with Earthlink, Compuserve, AOL,
Yahoo, and MSN. When I tried to open it to check it out Norton popped up
and notified me:

JScript Script File
Malicious script detected
X HIGH RISK
Your computer is halted and needs to do something about this script.
Object: Windows Script Host Shell
Activity: CreateShortcut
File: C:\Program files\Online Services/ydtsshortcut.js

HP told me to just leave it alone, that it MIGHT be necessary... HUH?
Nothing comes up on Google, MSN, or HP's searches. What in the world is
this? Is it dangerous and something I should delete immediately? Any
info would be greatly appreciated!

Take Care; Marty

You can delete the whole Online Services folder if you plan to never use any
of the options. This is a folder that is created with Windows. I always
delete this folder when setting up a new computer because I know I'll never
use one of these. It's safe to delete.

Thanks ras, that works for me, the folder "Online Services" is gone but
the shortcut to it still shows up on the "All Programs" list on the
start menu and when I try to delete it there it tells me: "If you delete
this folder it will affect all users" (paraphrasing here) and then it
gives the me the option to continue yes or no. I click yes and nothing
happens. I tried 4 or 5 times and it simply will not go away....
BTW what is this file ydtshortcut.js? Is it a nasty file that was put on
my pc that will create a shortcut and do nefarious things to me? And why
Online Services folder? Maybe because it's such a good place to hide?

In Windows Explorer you can try deleting it from "C:\Documents and
Settings\<user name>\Start Menu\Programs". Have no idea what the file
'ydtshortcut.js' is or why it's in the Online Services folder but good luck
in getting rid of it.

Right click the shortcut and choose Delete.
