This is a post I found on a Mac forum:
"I thought that pcs were much more powerful than macs i thought ha they are still just on 800mhz, hah we have 1.8ghz I thought. Until I talked to a macintosh specialist at a store he told me everything just how much more powerful and more usable they are and how they came out with everything first. The man showed me the new G4 which he told me is 72% more powerful than intels 2ghz and they never lock up, i was in awe. Ive been wrong all these years, after playing around with it for a while the system began to become flawless. But I still not use to some of the things like one button clicking no sub menu so the man told me they have something called vitual pc witch allows you to run windows 98 on your computer! I was amazed, I relized this is the best darn computer ever made. Whos with me!"
No wonder peops use Macs! They have no real knowledge of comps. 72% faster my ass. I posted a few times on that forum, and it suddenly became apparent people weren't very familiar w/ the technicalities of computers- not even FPU, IPC, etc! The best they could tell me why a mac was better is that it looked and felt better! bah!
I'll cry you a river right now. It just goes to show how easily the average Joe is convinced by a salesperson. Do you now understand how people are told "Oh, this P4 has 1.8GHz and it goes for $183, but this AMD chip is only 1.73GHz and it costs $235!!" Obviously for someone who know diddly squat, they'd go for the P4. "Oh lookit this P4 must be faster because MHZ/GHz is the only way to mesure performance. And it's even $50 cheaper. What a good deal!"
