I need to get a car with Firewire and I've been recommended both Pinnacle and Leadtek cards. I think the Leadtek is a third of the price but is supposedly pretty good.
The packages would be Leadtek's WinFast DV2000 or Pinnacle Studio DV 9.
Would there be much of a discernable difference between quality of captured video? The Leadtek card has features I don't care about as I'm really just after a card that allows good quality capturing.
Also, can PAL video captured through a firewire card only be 720 x 576? Canon have a high resolution mode on some of their DV cameras which have higher effective pixels than most cameras. They even state 2,000,000 effective pixels when compared to 800,000 on most cameras. I don't understand this, does anyone else understand what this means?
FIrewire data transfer is just that--data transfer. The only thing you should be careful about is getting a card that has TI chips---I just picked up an Adaptec card at Compusa for 29.00 bucks---Again, firewire is firewire--just make sure you get one that has a TI chip set. (Another good one is ADS)
