I bet it was an easy sell for management.

Manager: Yea, these kids they love to play games, and I bet if we put web based games on our tomsgames site, they'll play the hell out of them. I mean it is Tom's Games right?

Boss: But what about our games writers?

Manager: Nobody reads those things anymore. I mean, why do we need to add our own value, or build our own community? That's SO web 2.0. Give them games, they will play.

Boss: Great. Writers, you're fired! Get to grabbing those games.

I can see how bringing to the table a diversification of the entertainment portfolio would have a pro-active impact in incentivising the userbase.
