OfficeJet R80 / USB Compatibility

Last year I brought home an OfficeJet r80 from the office to give me
some Fax and copy capabilities at home. It's worked great for that,
but much to my frustration I've never been able to hook it up to the
IBM NetVista I've got sitting right next to, because the NetVista only
has USB connectors.

I tried jumping through some hoops using a USB converter, but no go.

Any ideas for what to do here or is HP's short-sightedness going to
leave me with a half-useful r80 (and a great reluctance to buy their
products in the future).
