I have a Gigabyte GA-6VXC7-4X mobo , it has a P3-933 mhz sitting in it . I want to know which other faster CPU's can it take ??, Also is it a case of just swapping them straight over ,or is there more work involved ? I tried to contact Gigabyte ,a week ago ,no reply yet !!!!! Also is it possible to safely overclock it ,if so to what speed .My memory currently runs at a bus speed of 100 mhz , i know it can take 133 , will this make much difference , when playing games ????? lol

PS , any advice could you please explain it easy to understand !!! lol
Thanks

First of all, Gigabyte have REALLY poor support, it took them about a month to reply to my question, and even that reply contained completely irrelavent info. I took a look on the lame Gigabyte website but the CPU support list for your mobo was 'coming soon!'. However it does have the VIA Appllo Pro chipset which I dont think has Tually Support - someone will need to conform this. It would be very beneficial for you to run your memory at 133 (if it is PC133 certified) as this could currently be a bottleneck for your system.

Your chipset does not support the Tulatian PIII processors so you would have to buy an adaptor. Then you could get a 1.4GHz PIII and put it in your socket 370. Use the powerleap's CPU upgrade finder to see what you need
However, I think you'll find the price of doing that is not much diffreent to buying a new motherboard, processor and memory which will probably be faster.

I have a 6VXE7 and Tualatin adapter I'll trade you if you give me $10 for the adapter and pay shipping both ways. Why do I want to trade? My adapter has a ZIF socket, like the original. The original socket is underneath the Tualatin adapter and has a heatsink latch missing. So the heatsink will attach with the adapter in place, but not without the adapter in place.

Why would you want to trade? You get the adapter for $10, a great value. I tested my tualatin Celeron 1100@1466 on it, works good.

You can thank this value to a member called six, who sent me a board with a broken heatsink tab.
