XP Home on more than 1 computer?

I got Win XP Home with computer for my business and activated it. Can I
and/or am I allowed to put it on my pc at home also or will it not be
activatable anymore??

No, one license, one computer.
The way it has always been since at least Windows 95.
If you want Windows XP on another computer, you need to buy another copy.

A copy of Windows XP can only be used - and thus, activated - on one
computer at a time.

"Smart People" are allowed to install / activate XP on 2 PC's: 1. Desktop 2.
Notebook
All the rest can only install / activate XP on 1 PC.

Install and Activate XP on a desktop or laptop.
Install and activate XP on a 2nd notebook or desktop.
You will have to call MS and tell them you are activating XP a 2nd time on a
notebook or desktop.
They will give you the activation number right then.

"Smart People" are allowed to install / activate XP on 2 PC's: 1. Desktop 2.

Not in compliance with the EULA.
Thus the "Smart People" you refer are either unable to read or are unable to
keep an agreement.

There is no provision to install consumer Windows on more than one computer.
Some versions of Office allow multiple installations, but not consumer
Windows.

Read the EULA for details BEFORE spreading this incorrect information.

You need to purchase a separate WinXP Pro license for each computer
on which you install it.

First of all, your new computer has an OEM license for WinXP.
An OEM version must be sold with a piece of hardware (normally a
motherboard or hard rive, if not an entire PC) and is _permanently_
bound to the first PC on which it's installed. An OEM license, once
installed, is not legally transferable to another computer under _any_
circumstances.

Secondly, as it has *always* been with *all* Microsoft operating
systems, it's necessary (to be in compliance with both the EULA and
U.S. copyright law http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/17/117.html), if
not technically) to purchase one WinXP license for each computer on
which it is installed. (Consult an attorney versed in copyright law
to determine final applicability in your locale.) The only way in
which WinXP licensing differs from that of earlier versions of Windows
is that Microsoft has finally added a copy protection and anti-theft
mechanism, Product Activation, to prevent (or at least make more
difficult) multiple installations using a single license.

That is completely incorrect. The only way the second activation would
go through would be for the caller to deliberately lie about the facts
of the installations.

"Smart People" or not, this is *not* correct. The rule is one
copy (or one license) for each computer, whether desktop or
laptop.

You may be thinking of Microsoft Office. The licerse agreement
for Office *does* permit using a single copy on both a desktop
and a laptop, but that's not true of Windows XP (nor of any other
version of Windows).

No, the licence allows it to be installed on one computer. You need a separate
licence (Cd-key) purchased from Microsoft or your retailer or purchase a second
copy of the software.
