I just built a new comp with an Asus A7N8X Deluxe. I put a LiteOn CD burner on the seconday IDE channel with a DVD drive. The CD is set to master and the DVD is set to slave. Both drives read CDs without a problem, but I cannot burn CDs. Under the device manager in XP, my drives are titled SCSI (e.g. Lite-On LTR-XXXX SCSI CdRom Device) as well as my hard drive.

Also, there are no IDE channels listed under the "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" heading. The only thing listed there is "NVIDIA nforce IDE Controller."

My BIOS seems to recognize everything correctly, though.

My question is: Is it normal for the nForce2 to not display IDE channels under the device manager? Does the CD burning issue sound like a mobo IDE issue? If so, does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? Could it be a problem with XP?

Any suggestions or recommendations will be helpful. Thanks.

J. Kyle
