Tom's Hardware: Topic Big red block letter errors all over in L4D

Just picked up L4D but I'm having a strange issue. Been all over different forums but can't find any info.
All over the place I see big red block letter "ERROR" some times I can walk right through them and other times it seems like an object is where the error is.
Heres an example 
I've never encountered anything like this in any other game I have played so I don't have a clue what the issue is.
Anyone have any advice as to where to even begin? I've already messed around with alot of in game settings like res, AA ext ext.
