Yeah... you may have to set something in the bios, but usually just turn on raid and Win XP should detect it otherwise you need to install Ultra ATA drivers.

in bios, i only have the options to enable and disable onboard raid. i'm using win98se.

Ok.. then enable raid in bios... when you go into windows it should detect a new storage device and try to install it. You should have the drivers on a disk that came with your mobo and use those drivers... something like new UATA storage device or somthing. Also make sure there are no jumpers on the board to weitch between raid and regular ide. Soyo I know has jumper you need to set to use normal ide instead of raid. Check your mobo manual

i dont think its gonna work... i have had numerous responses saying that the hdisk will only work under raid configuration. the review of my board also suggest the same thing... so i guess i need to either find a bios hack or buy a seperate controller card... thanx 4 the help thou.

I don't think it's a bios issue... aslong as your raid is enabled. I checked up on that board and it has software raid not hardware raid, so there is no need for a jumper. have you tried just loading a drive on one of the raid plugs and booting windows? do you get any messages? do you get any '!' in your device manager? or does nothing else happen?

you can go buy a raid card if you want... but it's kindof a waste. I suggest you do some more searching before you shell out more money.

don't give me that "I don't think it's gonna work" BS, just do it. In board BIOS, you have the option to enable or disable the RAID CONTROLLER. Notice I said CONTROLLER. You should see a new screen come up after initial BIOS display for the RAID controll. YOu don't have to use that feature to my knowledge.
