Centrino vs Desktop P4

Forum Mobile Computing : General Mobile Computing Centrino vs Desktop P4

I'm pondering purchasing a new Dell laptop, but most of the new laptops have the new but slower Centrino instead of the Desktop P4. I like to play many games, like Freelancer, Morrowind, NWN, DungeonSiege, etc. How important is CPU speed vs video card memory when it comes to proper rendering and graphics speed? I'd most likely get a 64mb or 128mb ATI Radeon, and I'm thinking about combining that with a 1.6 or 1.8gHz Centrino. This would be a laptop, not a desktop. Thanks in advance.

If you plan on having it on ac power most of the time go for a desktop proc notebook. If you want battery life and mobility go for the mobile proc. Thanks to the new Dothan core mobile cpus there really isn't to much of a performance difference between mobile and desktop cpus. The major difference is price. You WILL pay for mobility :)
