Need to get a new computer this week( well soon ) :)
This is the components ive come up with ( for around $600):
Gigabyte Ga-8Ge667 ultra 2 - fsb533- ddr333
Intel Pentium 4 2.4G - 512k 533mhz
Kingston 512mb pc333 ddr
W.D 60Gb 7200 ATA100
Asus Cdrom 52X
Innovision Geforce 4mx 440 64mb ddr - ( i know its quite a low end card but thats what i can get for this price):
------------
1) Do you have a better mobo' for that price( should i get perhaps an AGP X8) or ( a mobo' that supports perhaps firewire 1394)?!?!?

2) What is the limitation to a mobo that has only an AGP X4 rather than 8X?

3) Is there a mobo that supports RDRAm and DDR, for around the same price as the Gigbye?

4) Would i be better off with the Asus P4PE??

plz let me know a.s.a.p , ur comments mean a lot ...i need to build the computer this week...my dad's drivin' me up the walls here!!!

A lot of folks like the Gigabyte board, so I can't imagine that you'll go wrong there. As for 8X AGP, 8X can move twice as much data as 4X, but there probably wont be any games that can take advance of the much bandwidth until another 12 months or so.

No, there is not an RDRAM DDR combo. It's one or the other.

No man.. that looks like a good entry level comp system. I don't forsee any problems.

To err is human... to really screw things up you need a computer!

1) Your choice of mobo is fine. You can always add an 1394 card later if you need it. 1394 cards are very cheap nowadays.

Another thing ill be getting a Kingston 512mb pc333 ddr , is there some specific type to look out for?!?

Kingston RAM? Sorry but I just don't understand why anyone would hamstring a high performance system with discount RAM. If you want reliability, spend a few extra bucks on Corsair XMS Low Latency RAM. In the short term (nevermind the long run) you will be much more satisfied with the performance and stability. Additionally, by using memory certified on the system, you will be sure to avoid the many performance and SPD problems associated with running generic CAS2.5 or CAS3 RAM.

This Gigabyte site shows you the difference among their mobos:

The main problem with getting Corsair memory is that its overly priced over here in Israel. It costs $40 dollars extra than other modules...Corsair CMX512-2700C2 runs at $162 - dont tell me thats not expensive ...probably costs much less in the U.S.
Btw, if anyone has an online site where i can order memory and maybe even graphic cards that ship products to Israel...it'll be greatly appreciated.!!!
Thank u

I'd suggest you really get a new video card. The MX series is only good if the closest you get to gaming is Solitare or Minesweeper. Get at least a GF3 Ti500 or other Ti card. Alternatively, do like I did and get a Radeon 8500 or higher. They are also very nice cards, and right now the 9500 and 9700 are better than any nVidia card.

XP 2500+ Barton
A7N8X Dlx
2x512MB Corsair PC3200
ATI 9700 Pro
16x DVD-ROM
2x80GB 7200RPM Maxtor
Onboard audio

I'd also reconsider the video card selection. See previous post!
