Which chip set is better.

Want AGP 8x board and to use P4 2.4 533 fsb.
I've considered Gigabyte -8SQ800/SINXP13194 and Aopens-AX4R.

Any suggestions ?

I prefer SiS655 over E7205. The 655 supports dual DDR333 memory while the E7205 only supports dual DDR266. Also for the 666, you have a choice of using either concurrent or dual channel mode.

i have the 8inxp board and love it. i only have a 2.8 HT chip with 2 sticks of samsung 333.... and it runs great...
i have a Raedon 8500 64 meg.. adn get about 10500 to 11000 in 3dmark 2001se build 330. i use the raid board for my HDD but not in an array... just as ide channels... good board over all.. stable overclocker.... colorful:)

Despite SiS 655 supporting Dual DDR 333, even 400, according to various benchmarks the E7205 outperforms, with its Dual DDR 266. Dont know why.

I've read their are some stablilty issues with the 655. I was ready to buy untill I read the artilce here, but it seems some people arent having any trouble.

I want stablilty and no hassles. I was thinking of Aopen AX4R. Its about 45.00 less than the MSI 6565( but no fire wire). Anyone know anything about this board ? I've found a few reviews but seem I find out more in forums such as this one.

E7205 has a better memory management than the SIS655 since it's been out longer. I have it and I have no regrets.

To err is human... to really screw things up you need a computer!

It's really about how much coin you want to spend. Yes the sis655 may give you an initial issue with memory timings but one quick adjustment should fix that issue.

Wrong, you're the black hole of knowledge? Tom's didn't test the boards at PC3200 speed. They underclocked PC3200 to PC2700 speed. Why? To make the chipset look worse? You can find some REAL reviews at Anandtech.

According to Anandtech (a REAL test site), the 655 outperforms EVERYTHING when equiped with PC3200 running at full speed.
