i'm gonna get myself some new hardware and i've been looking at the posts here for some days now. but i cant figure out wich one to take. the A7N8X (non deluxe!!) or the msi K7N2-L. they both have about the same specs and the msi is cheaper. and why is it exactly that the 2500+ barton is faster than the 2400+. the 2400 has a speed of 2.0 Ghz but the 2500+ 1.83 Ghz ... so how does that work? is it becus of the larger cache and the faster 333 fsb?

anyways this is what i'm thinking:

amd 2400+ or 2500+
asus A7N8X (non deluxe) or msi K7N2-L
wd 80 gig 8 mb cache
2x 256 mb ddr333 kingston
400 watt dual fan gold ps (q-tec)

than i still have an asus geforce 2 64 mb MX400 which i want to keep for a short while. do u guys know if its compatible with the mobo? hope u can help me out here. any suggestions on something else i should take r welcome too.

1. Get MSI K7N2-L.
2. Get 2600+ at 333FSB. There is no big favour for 512K cache on 2500+ to 2400+ but 333FSB do faster then 266FSB but IMOP 2600+ is a better solution. All Barton core Athlon XP are clocked at lower frequency because AMD think that the large cache can cover the performance loss.
3. You GeForce2 MX400 will work just fine on your new system unless it's a PCI version.

My PC has gone to hell... because it's a killing machine...

I'm setting up a similar system:

Abit NF7-S Nforce2 mobo
2x 256MB Corsair 2700 RAM at 2-2-2-2-5 latency
Athlon 2500+ (gonna overclock about CPU speed)
Thermaltake Xaser III case
431 Watt Enermax PSU
Thermalright SLK-900 with Vantec tornado
80 gig Maxtor with 8 MB cache

I'd go with the Asus, because they have a history of GREAT components and there is a general concensus that they are the champs right now. DEFINATLEY GO WITH THE 2500!!!!!!!!!!
Massive difference!! The larger cache is a HUGE difference, and with a normal FSB speed of 333, you can ocd to 400Mhz. FSB is the speed of communication between the processor and the bus architecture, so it is VERY important.

From what I've heard it supports dual DDR as long as the dimms are IDENTICAL. Plenty o' people run DDR 2700 in dual mode (it's the best and fastest way to do things. 333MHz FSB and 333Mhz RAM speed.) Don't go for the DDR 400. Get something comprable to the Corsair TwinX package (2x 256 MB) at 2700 and latency 2-2-2-2-5 T1. You'll be flyin' high!

ok guys this what i decided:

asus A7N8X (non deluxe)
amd athlon xp 2500+ barton
2x>> kingston hyper x 256 mb ddr370 cl 2>>2-2-2-6-1/or2-3-3-1
wd 80 gig 8 mb cache
q-tec 400 watts dual fan gold

now i just have to find a good site either in belgium or holland.i'll let u guys know how it works out.

thanks
