Free Lancer Help needed

Well I have made lvl 15 and now I am stuck on the dragon secret base with no jobs to be found. How do I discover the back ways around the trade lanes. I know they exist but I can't remember where they're at. How do I earn more money? Am I now a thief that can't get laginiment work? Attack convoys? I'm Frustrated and needa a few hints on the direction I should take now.
