Calculating FPS

Hey guys is there any software for calculating the frames per second in games? I need simple newbie answers... please...

Google 'Fraps' - It is a tool that show FPS in games.
Also most games have a console command that allows the fps to be shown.

if you have xfire (chatprogram for gamers and a way to join your friends in 2 clicks) you can see fps to! you only have to pick the option while in game
