i have a spare amd 1400+, 512 mb ram pc2100 ddr266, all the other stuff to make another computer. whats a nice cheap but stable mobo? doesnt need ata133, firewire and usb 2 are a plus. agp4x will do.
ive looked at biostar, ecs, shuttle. seems like shuttle gets the best reviews?
I would recommend an ASUS NForce A7N266. Built in video(not bad) but you can always add a card. Built in LAN and good onboard sound. And its only $69.99 ! Get some Crucial PC 2100 (256MB $36.00). Its the start of a good stable cheap system.
Go for ASUS A7N266-VM. It has very good onboard audio, that's a bonus

is there a product link to this? i did a quick search of amd mobos on newegg and didnt find msi 645 anywhere. i see a msi 645E at googlegear, but i doubt my amd 1400+ would run very well in that socket http://www.googlegear.com/jsp/Prod [...] ode=241075
its the 745, not 645. The 645 is for the P4, 745 for Athlon. I looked on newegg and they dont seem to stock it anymore - but dont let this put you off! Shop around (im in UK, dont know many US sites) and im sure you will find it.
