I have a small Ethernet network at home and I have just upgraded one of the
computers from W98 to WXP.

When I run the Network Setup Wizard, I put in the Workgroup name as
'18_PENLON' which is the name used by all the other computers on the
network. It is also the name by which my network is recognised in a larger
wireless network of which my small network is a part.

However, if I run the Wizard again, I find that the Workgroup name has been
reset to 'MSHOME'. This happens repeatedly and there does not seem to be any
way that I can set the Workgroup name as '18_PENLON'.

How can I get the Workgroup name to be set correctly?

With thanks,

Gerry

Each time you run the Network Setup Wizard, it inserts "MSHOME" because that
is default. Simply change it to what you want, in this case its "18_PENLON"
and continue with the Wizard. Just because each time you run the wizard, it
says "MSHOME" doesn't necessarily mean that's what your computer is set at.
Check this, right click "My Computer"
Click "Properties"
Click the "Computer Name" tab
look at "Workgroup" it should say "18_PENLON", even though Network Setup
Wizard keeps saying "MSHOME". Hope this helps.
