Hooked up the laptop with a 64mb Radeon 7500 to a Hi-Def TV yesterday for a photo slide show. The quality of the pics was outstanding! A normal TV looks like crap. Now the wife wants a tiny PC with all our pictures connected to the TV at all times to show friends slide shows. I need a good tiny PC case for the job. Any suggestions?

depends on what pocesser you want
the problem is that most small cases only have a pci slot in them. so you would have to get a pci veido card. for good quality.

one to look into is the sv 24 its largest dimensoin is less then 12 inches

Processor doesn't have to be much. All this thing will be used for is photo slide shows and maybe internet access now and then. It's great being able to display 1024x768 on a TV! I was thinking of a Duron 1ghz on a Micro-ATX, a vid card with TV-out (GeForce 2 MX?) and a net card. Add a wireless kb and mouse, hide the PC in the TV cabinet and presto! Gotta find a case, PSU and motherboard though.

You're going to be stuck with a cyrix processor and onboard savage video. There is a pci slot on those tiny motherboards, maybe even agp, but I don't understand why since there's no room for a card.

Maybe I'm thinking too small though. What dimensions are you looking at?

Well, as small as is practical. I wanted to hide it in a tiny space in the cabinet but I don't think that's gonna be possible. So now I'm thinking stick it in the corner behind the cabinet. The triangle that makes up the corner is 18x18x22 inches. I suppose I could stand the case on end, face up. Or maybe one of those flat cases?

i would suggest an ati card do to the fact that they output video to tv alot better then any gf card.

asus gfs do come close thoe

I considered ATI since I know they come in PCI and they seem to offer TV out on a lot of cards. I just found the <A HREF="http://www.lian-li.com/product.php?action=viewPD&prdid=361" target="_new">Lian-Li PC-42</A>. Prolly expensive though.

you might be able to find them elsewhere at a better price but the Shuttle cases (Tom reviewed on a bit back) have a bundle :

Or two of the smallest PC's I have ever seen (bout the size of a CD player): <A HREF="http://www.thinkgeek.com/stuff/computing/5868.shtml" target="_new">here</A> and <A HREF="http://www.boldata.com/html/minipc.cfm" target="_new">here </A>

I saw those Shuttle setups. Very nice. Not quite as stackable as others but pretty sweet nonetheless. The Mini PCs are the greatest thing since sliced bread but cost a freakin' loaf! Directron.com has a nice black stackable model but when I called about it they said it doesn't have TV-out despite the web site saying it does. Bastages! I'm thinking Shuttle is up on the list. Hopefully the S-video quality is good.
