I believe all it does is end background processes and can be set to OC processor and GPU.
It should increase FPS, but probably not by much.

It has a number of uses besides Gaming. I see around a 10% increase in performance using the Fusion Utility without Overclocking your hardware. It shuts down the index services, anti-virus, and all that other good stuff that might just pop up and ruin your gaming session. It also shuts down any background processes you don't if you are gaming.

Just don't dl that shady pron I don't run one either, they are too bulky running in the background. If stuff starts to go haywire there are always free ones you can snag for that special occasion.
You can also set different profiles so you can pick and choose programs if you want. I haven't gone that deep into the program yet. Pretty much if you hit expert everything get's shutdown but the very basics to keep the computer running. Once you shut Fusion off everything reloads like normal. I use it mostly to clear my RAM so I don't have to go through the entire boot sequence. Another cool feature is you can setup Fusion to OC your system just for gaming or if you are running any other software that you might want a bit of a boost for.
If you have an AMD Processer and an ATI Card it is well worth downloading.
I use it sometimes, when playing GTA IV for example. The problem is that when you enable it again, it starts every single windows process, even the ones you didn't use before, so you might get an extra 15-20 processes when enabling it.
