Purchased the Asus A7N8X Deluxe with AMD 2600+ and Samsung PC 3200/400/512 x2.
Installed this board in a system with a WinME HD and ATI 8500DV 4x.
Could not get this board to do anything. Always got "System failed memory test" voice error. It would run for a second or two and shut down, no video, no beeps.
Thinking it was the memory I purchased 2 PC 2100 sticks and got the same error message.
Contacted my retailer who told me that the board had a bad memory slot so he sent me a replacement "New". After installing the new board it also shut down but without the voice message.
My retailer now says that the CPU must be bad so I am waiting on a replacement CPU.
BAD Asus....I opened a trouble ticket at Asus support last week or about 5 or 6 days ago and haven't heard anything yet. I have been dic*in with this board since March 5 and am frankly tired of the board and sorry support.

Please share your experiences with this board and CPU if you have any.

Thanks...

I have set up an A7N8X Deluxe few days ago, I had also go through some problems but "luckily" everything okay and the performance of the mobo is pretty good. There are 3 RAM slots on the mobo, one black and 2 blue. If you have a pair of RAMs put them into the blue one. If it still not work, just put in a single RAM in the black one and check whether it work. Don't just wait for Asus, I had also post a message to them and feedbacks are always "late" and sometimes "incorrect".

I have the exact same MoBo and have had no problems. MY system config is as follows:

A7N8X Deluxe MoBo
NVidia GeForce4 Ti4200 Graphics Card
2 - 256MB PC3200 DDR-400 Ram (Kingston Brand)
AMD 2600+ Athlon XP processor
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum Video Card

My configuration seems to run fine. You might try using a different type of Memory. I would recommend either kingston or Crucial brand memory. I don't know if I would jump to conclusions on the Processor. In most cases it will either be the memory or the mainboard itself. The bios settings may be set wrong also.

A buddy of mine put together a system with the same mobo... He couldn't get it to post either at first. After various trials and errors, he switched the PSU...(from an Enermax 430W Whisper to his generic 250W POS PSU)...the system booted and he entered in the FSB settings for the memory. He then replaced the POS PSU with the Enermax and it worked fine.

I couldn't even begin to explain that one.

I had a similar problem. At first, I had my two dimms in the first two slots, until I found out I needed them in slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 3 to be in twinbank, so i moved the second into the 3rd slot. When I booted, it only detected 512MB. Confused, I moved the first dimm into the second slot, so both of them were in the blue banks. This time, I got the system failed memory test. I took them out, looked them over, and put them back in, making sure they were in there securely and everything. I tried again, and bam! it worked like a charm. I suggest you try the same.

Thanks for the info, but I have tried all the combinations.
I have been doing systems for a few years and have never run into a board like this.
2 CPU's & 2 boards....still no boot.
PC 3200 & PC 2100 in primary 1&3 & 2&3...still no boot.
Could it be the video card? ATI 8500DV 64. The light says it's ok. Also tried a NivDia 64 4x.
I replaced the power supply with a 500 watt.

Maybe I have 4 bad memory sticks.....
Waiting for a tested and known good combo..

Will update

I know some earlier revisions of the a7n8x have problems with pc3200 memory. I suggest getting slower memory, pc2100, and trying it to see how it works.

My combo works. My PS is an Enermax 450W. It's the only thing of consequence not listed below.

Yes, it is really frustrated in such a situation. If you thought that you have 4 bad memory sticks and 2 bad CPUs then please try once again to put in ONE memory stick into the first slot (count from the CPU side). Please update me the current status then.
