ok every time i try to install battlefield 2142 on my PC it gets like 1/4th of the way through and then it says, LauchAppAndWait failed on D:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts \BF 2142 and then it stops the installation...its not my hardware... is it vista 64 bit? (thats what i have) any help would be amazing! :)

Sounds like vista isnt letting it make its own folder.

i would disable all that admin and uac stuff, its all junk.

i run it just fine on vista ultimate.

ummm not much available time but id play around and look in admin in the control panel. and use the search function and search uac control

Google UAC fix.
You can disable it totally, and remove the alerts or you can use a small application to manage UAC.

Everyone hates it. Also when in Vista make sure when you are running programs, to right-click and select "Run as administrator".

You may have bad Media as well btw. Are you installing from DVD?

Bit of research shows that LaunchAppAndWait is a function of the Install Shield, and needs to be configured correctly.

Essentially i believe that Installshield is asking for an exe launch and getting no response. Interesting that the install stops, it should just hang. Try running setup.exe straight from the dvd, or x/setup.exe where x=your drive letter.

I should try right-clicking and running as administrator as PR pointed out.
