Okay what I need to know basically is should I pick up an Intel motherboard that will have the new FSB of 800Mhz When they come out) with a Pentium 4 processor that includes hyper-threading (Which sounds very interesting, like multi-tasking) OR should I pick up one of the newest AMD based socket A motherboards with the 333 FSB's and the soon to come out AMD Clawhammer?

I have one more small technical type question also?

How come Intel Socket 478 motherboards have such higher Front Side Bus rates like 533\400 and AMD Socket A motherboards have only 266/200 now AMD's newer FSB's are at 333, why is the difference between AMD FSB's and Intel's so great? Still out of everytime I used a Pentium / Intel based machine it is always ALWAYS slower than my little Athlon 700Mhz system.

So this leads me to believe that my next system should also be an AMD right? I always liked them better anyway.

Choose Intel way (800MHz FSB mobo + HT CPU) if you got enough cash or 533/667MHz FSB mobo + HT CPU for cheaper price. And Clawhammer will not run on any current AMD mobo because of the technology it'll use a.k.a. 64bit processing stream which is not available on any current AMD mobo (all of them are 32bit) but I'm not sure about the coming VIA KT400A chipset though...
And for the FSB question:
Intel is using Quad Pump technology which mean they are running at 4x FSB while AMD is using Double Data Rate technology which run at 2x FSB. So Intel Pentium IV 400/533/667MHz FSB is actually 100/133/166MHz FSB x4=400/533/667MHz FSB; AMD Athlon XP is 200/266/333MHz FSB so they are 100/133/166MHz FSB x2=200/266/333MHz FSB. So basically we can't directly compare the FSB speed and CPU clock frequency between these two. Another question, you said your Pentium based is slower than your AMD Athlon 700MHz. I assume it is a Pentium III so it's normal. Pentium IV CPU clocked lower than 2.8GHz are still lose out to AMD Athon XP with the exception of 2500+ Barton.

You never know how stupid you are until you have done something stupid enough for you to realize it.
