Hi,
a friend of mine has an 800Mhz P3 with a VC820 motherboard from Intel. He ran out of disk space on his hdd, so he wants to get a Maxtor 8MB Cache 120GB HDD. Obviosuly this'll become the main hdd, but it's ata133/100/66. However, the ata100 will add some speed for bursts, so I was wondering if there is any way to get ata100 on an ata66 board? Any bios updates?

Hilbert space is a big place.

well dude, no, the board can only run at ATA66, but there are some BIOS updates available <A HREF="http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df/Product_Filter.asp?ProductID=217" target="_new">here</A>.

hmmm, people should be forewarned when bying a dell with a nice big warning sign - "<b><font color=red>WARNING</font color=red> - this computer is <font color=red>NOT</font color=red> upgradable - <font color=red>EVER</font color=red>, unless <font color=purple>WE</font color=purple> do it right now for additional charges</b> <i>(which ironically make us more expensive than a white-box system!)</i>".

About the PSU, you can always grab a new higher wattage mini-atx psu and mod it into the dell's case (unless it fits a full ATX PSU) and then pop in a controller card... otherwise "damn" is right.. sorry dude.
