I am using windows xp home. every time I launch windows media player it loads
but then does not respond and I have to close it.
Two days ago it was working fine.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem?

Try using System restore, and revert back to the time right before two days ago when it worked. If you cannot, then think of what you did in making changes during that time, i.e. added another program, uninstalled something related, etc.
