Help me please

Ok guys I have been looking for solution for a couple weeks and have found no help so I thought I would try here. I am running windows XP on my mac. I canot get counter strike 1.6 to run and I am playing trying to play it through steam. I launch the game se the screen with 2 cts on it then it crashes. No error messages or anything it just goes back to my desktop.

Whats I don't understand is the fact I can play COD4 via steam flawlessly and warhammer online flawlessly. I have the latest version of directx 9 and the latest driver for my video card (catalyst 9.1 I think0. I have tried forcing steam into compatibilty mode and tried to use steam launch options to to run the game in directx 7 and still no go. I had a friend mention sli to me but I am using an ati card and from what I understand crossover is the equvilent. is my card in cross over mode and I don't know it?
