What means the ATX12V connection on the MoBo?

I have posted this mail also in CPU, but I guess it is better in this section.

I just bought a new MB (Liteon NA130) and an Intel P4 2.4 Ghz (FSB533) Processor.
The system just doesn´t want to start up, not even a POST, just the ventilators work. As I saw in the manual there is an ATX12V conection on the board. My Powersuply is a standard ATXv2.01. Could it be that I need to buy a new one which has a ATX12V conection?
Please help me, as I have just bought for 600€ new components and I can´t use them.

Many thankx,

David

Uh ya Im pretty sure you need that 12v aux connector for the P4. I guess that means new power supply

Thx a lot for your respons. At least it makes me feel better knowing that neither the Mobo or Processor is broken.
I will just buy a new case next monday.

Many thx again!

you probably don't need a new case... most likely you just need a new powersupply... one with the p4 connector attached.

couldn't you buy a converter cable that converts to a p4 connector?
If there is such a thing....

And guess what... you just saved me from having to exchange 4 power supplies in my AMD stockpile!

Teq,

I'm not an Intel User, but I'm just curious.

Is the P4 12V connector regulated any differently than a standard molex 12v?

I would think it would be, but then again what do I know?

Just thought it might be something to consider.

Great! Althought I live in Europe, and paying the P&P would cost me almost the same as a case. BTW, my case doesn´t has a ventilator at the back, so thjere is no way to get a good airflow. At the moment I have an AMDK6-3 at 450Mhz and for extra cooling I had to remove the side of my case, otherwise it just got to hot inside.
And also the Powersupply at this moment is 230W and I have 2HD 60GB 7200rpm,DVD,CDRW. So i guess it is also better to get the new case with a 350W powersuply, not?

Thx,

David

Under those conditions, yes get a new case and PSU.
