I have XP Pro. running on two different computers. One has the original
version with no updates whilst the other is fully up to date with SP2 etc.
Having purchased a new Cannon scanner as above, old one not XP compatable, I
find it works fine on the old system but refuses on the new one.
The drivers etc are all recorded as being installed and working, but when
requesting a scan, it says that there is a twain error, probably it is not
connected? Cannon do not seem to understand why it is not working. Any help
would be appreciated.

How is it connected? LPT, USB, fire, other?

I assume that Cannon gave you the latest drivers?

Thanks for your interest Walter. It is a USB unit and works fine with the
older PC.
The software provided is Arcsoft PhotoStudio 5.5 and the symptons are that
on requesting a scan, it takes ages to respond and then a message comes up
which says there is a twain error, check that it is connected, I have tried
different cables, uninstalled and installed it more times than I care to
remember. tried running it on its own from the 4 x USB port. I only installed
it the once on the other pc.
I have also been onto the xp compatability site, but there does not appear
to be anything there.
I wonder if you have any other ideas?
Thanks.

Plug it into one of the ports on the computer case.. hub ports do not have
the power to fly it..

Hi,

I am having the same exact problem as you Den. The LiDE 35 used to
work on the same exact computer, but due to some problems that I had,
I had to reformat and reinstall everything. Everything is back to
normal now except for the scanner. I must have installed/uninstalled
more than 10 times, trying the CanoScan & WIA drivers, and neither
of them worked. When the scanner is plugged in, I can see the message
that the drivers for the scanner was installed correctly and is ready
to use, but whenever I try to scan, it gives me the message that
problem communicating to the scanner (similar to your error message).
I tried everything that I could think of, and nothing seems to work.
(Latest drivers off Canon website, driver uninstall utilities from
Canon, tech support from Canon...)

Anyway, if anyone found the solution to this, please let me know!

Thanks,
Jack

And what problem might that be?
PLEASE quote the post you are replying to otherwise no-one knows what on
earth you are talking about.

Thank you.
