Hi Everyone, I'm new to this forum, and I had a question about the new PC I was going to get. It's from Dell, and from reading a lot of the stuff from you guys, I'm guessing that doesn't sit well with a lot of people. But here's what I got: Q9550 processor, GTX 280, 8 GB DDR2 sdram, sata 2 raid 0 w/ dual 500 gb, also came with a 3 yr warranty (which i couldn't get them to drop and therefore reduce teh price). They offered this system to me for $1,630. Am I getting ripped off? How does it match up with other pre-built machines? Also, how easy is it to turn this into an SLI system? Please keep in mind that I don't really want to build my own system.

I configured one on Ibuy power with those same specs (atleast everything you provided), and came up with $1,730. So I don't think you are getting ripped off, though I personally would go with a nVidia 9800 gx2... Just me, I suppose.

I have no Idea about turning your machine into SLI, but I have a feeling you'd have to replace your motherboard, given it's dell.

Obviously, if you buy the parts individually, and build it yourself, you'll save a bundle of cash.

Dell are good but they do tend to cut corners, as herabec mentioned if you want to sli you will probly find your mobo wont support it. Try and get a full spec list from them and post here, you could build yourself a bit cheaper but at least you got the warranty with dell..

get tjharlow to build you a pc he charges $200 + the parts to build. it will be done right and cheaper!
