I'm currently using
1700+ T-Bred (no o/cing)
Micron 2*256 DDR333 PC2700
Gigabyte 7VKML mobo (only supports DDR266)
and this setup has managed about 8.2k 3D marks
. NOW
with the same setup if i put K7N2G-ILSR, how much performance boost will i get in terms of 3D marks, im a newbie so help me out...

Yo A,

You are asking about improving performance of a Video Card dependent Benchmark, by improving............what? slight memory/chipset improvements??????? Your CPU is a 133/266 mhz cpu bus chip(all the Athlon XP 2500+ & faster are 166/333 mhz)- it does not really take advantage of PC2700/DDR333 Ram........even it did, you are missing the big picture.............3D Marks is a Gaming/Video Benchmark, the biggest improvements will always come from a Faster/Better Video Card. It is also strange that you do not list your Video Card or what Drivers that you are running.

My take: You will get a very small improvement in 3D Marks Benchmarks for your money, by getting a new mobo. Save your money & buy a Ati 9700 or 9800 pro. Get a new mobo, when you can also get a 166/333 FSB CPU.

Peace Out..............tg

Judging by his 3DMarks score, I'll wager he has a Radeon 8500...maybe a Ti4200, but I think that would be in the 10,000 range...

i'm currently using R8800 GPU, i'v no intentions to upgrade that, but instead i might o/c the cpu for 166/333 (mobo gives pretty much room for that), so as to synch with the ram. I also get the dual DDR. K7N2G-ILSR's feature richness also appeals me, i don't have a large choice of mobos because, here in Pakistan there is no big demand for sort of high end mobos, becuase of that i can only manage MSI and Gigabyte. Talking of 3D Marks, if that does not help me in gaming then in which sense i'm going to get better performance(pretty dumb huh).. thanks for your reply tg

Get the MSI. I think everyone has forgotten that you can then run in Dual DDR mode (depending on how good your am is). Unlock your 1700 <<==very overclockable. in dual mode, you may have to play with your cas settings to get your system stable, but maybe not.
