Are you sure it's a hard drive password and not an adminstrator password screen that you have? What does the screen say exactly? Usually if you lock your hard drive and forget the password, you're out of luck. You could contact Dell and see if they will give you the master password... but you have to have proof of ownership. If the laptop is out of warranty, you may be charged.
