imaging hard drive

Does anyone know how to image a HD onto a hidden partition using DOS commands? How would the recovery work? Would it work with WinXP? Or is anyone aware of a good free imaging program out there? Thanks in advance for your help.

  1. Dos command, no way and I don't think you'll be able to find anything free to do that. But you may try the fully functional trial version of R-Drive Image.

You may either buy it or patch it but it's not wise to talk about the patch here...hehe

  2. The only thing close to what you are after might be Powerquests Drive Image and Partition Magic, you can make a set of 2 floppys for each of them which you can boot with to run the image program or partitioning program. However I am not sure about hidden partitions and it isn't free unless you know a good warezsite which then of course makes it illegal!

  3. Powerquest Drive Image 7 (Powerquest) has been bought by Symantec - they have discontinued DI 7 - and will ship Norton Ghost 9 sometime in Sept.
Copies of DI 7 are still available from software distributors ... but only untill they sell out.
