whats with crysis? why is it so hard to keep the frame rates there on top(> or = 60fps) when maxxing it all out? it's graphics is not ~THAT~ far from cod and l4d..

is it's game engine, CryEngine2, bugged or what?

You know all those really minor graphical features no one notices (god rays, ect)? They do nothing but eat up GPU time. Throw in the fact its not well coded....you get the picture.

uhm, why am i being laughed at?

Because since it was realsed in November 2007 it has been recognised as the most demanding game out, plus the graphics are far superior to COD4/WaW and L4D in terms of what the engines are actually doing, Huge maps, lots of vegitation moving in the wind, destructable buildings, almost anything can be moved, high res textures ect, whereas COD and L4D are mainly in urban settings and use updated versions of older engines.

It may not look better to you but crysis is much more technically detailed and intensive the COD&L4D.

@OP
I was laughing at djcoolerx, who in turn was laughing because of how notorious this game is, even after nearly 18months, and people still crop up on here asking about it. It was the situation, not a dig.

Correct

One day it will be playable :p

Another one impacted by the Crysis Effect....get him some medical care quick....

Crysis Effect: The effect of Crysis negatively impacting a system performance to the degree of one believing their system is inadequate. The only known cause of Crytosis.

Crytosis: Symptoms include intense irritation, itching, insomnia, excessive compulsive disorder, and non stop fiddle around with graphic settings.

Cryreality: the fact that only Crysis will suffer from low frame rates, while all other games will run at 5000FPS @ x32 AA and 999AF at 2560x1600.

Found it funny too....nothing wrong mate just that we are still getting "Crysis kills my PC" threads still.
GTA IV is the same, both are a b*tch to run.

I suggest selling your soul for a coupla 4870x2's in a Core i7 rig.

Come to think of it, It's been 1 1/3 years and there hasn't been a game that's graphically better yet. Or is the cycle like that always?

Doom 3 anyone?
March 15, 2009 6:48:48 PM

I think when he ways its not THAT much better than COD4 or L4D, I think he means Crysis on medium isnt that much better. Crysis is as close to photorealism as a game has ever gotten, but that's mainly maxed out at a high resolution. On normal settings, it's "only" just better than pretty much everything else.

Also, look into Crysis Warhead. Crysis I got around 20 FPS, but on Warhead it jumped to over 30. That's a pretty huge increase, and I was running it at higher settings.

I remember my 7800 GTX having issues with high settings...I also remember my prior ATI 9800 Pro getting under 20 FPS :D

Strange that your 7800GTX was having issues with Doom 3, my old 6800GT could play it easily - what res were you playing at?

Whilst we're on the subject of computer killing games (and totally away from the OP's title of Crysis) - Oblivion.
Killed everything ehen it first came out, and here we are 3 years later and a £60 4670 can play it maxxed. So only another 21 months to go before we can play Crysis on a cheap card!

actually Asheron's Call is as close to photo realism as it is. remember we're not counting polygons here.

Well, if you consider the fact that it's 1 1/3 years later and it's still mostly unplayable unless running at BS resolutions or on a 5K PC I guess it's graphically better. I would rather play my games instead of using them to make cool looking screenshots.
March 16, 2009 7:30:46 PM

thats bs ^

8800GT will run on high. If you dont think it looks good enough still, then go make your own photo realistic game

crysis did a fantastic job with its graphics and physics, its been out a long time and is still on top.

plus, its a pretty fun game, despite what many say. I enjoyed it more than cod.

If you have an issue with FPS, lower the res and settings. It still looks better then everything else out there.

hmm... i don't think it takes 5 grands to make a rig that can run Crysis at very high settings on decent resolutions (1400x900)

Gotta love Newegg and their combo deals and promo codes, makes everything cheaper. In fact, it comes up to $850, considering the parts i got for it:

AMD Phenom II x3 720 BE
GIGABYTE GA-MA790FXT-UD5P AM3
EVGA GTX 260 Core 216
G.Skill DDR3 4GB ram at 1333 Mhz (2GB x 2)
Western Digital Caviar SE 320GB SATA Hard Drive
OCZ Fatal1ty 550w Power Supply
Window Vista Home Premium 64bit

If you look for the right deal at the right time, you will get a hell of a bang for your buck!
