1. Install Works 4.0

or

2. Install some other application, such as Microsoft Word, that has
the ability to open Works 4.0 documents.

Good luck

Wesley,

I am having trouble with my Windows Word 2002. It is asking for a product
key # with 25 digits. I never got a product key # with this CD. How do I
open it? I've tried to email microsoft, but they want to charge $35.

The Product Key is on a sticker affixed to the CD packaging.

Otherwise:
If Word is retail, contact Microsoft:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=326246

If Word is OEM contact the seller, Microsoft may not be able to help with
OEM.

There are ways to find it.... this site lists several

"If we run into such debt, as that we must be taxed in our meat and in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and our amusements, for our calling and our creeds...we [will] have no time to think, no means of calling our miss-managers to account but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow-sufferers. And this is the tendency of all human governments. A departure from principle in one instance becomes a precedent for another till the bulk of society is reduced to be mere automatons of misery.

The OP need the key so it can be input.
Those tools are great but none can display what is not yet entered.
And the key is not on the CD.

In that case, I misunderstood. Most people ask about CD keys when
they are reinstalling.

Not a good sign.
