im a new member in tomhardware.
my question is:
can my PC run GTA4 at high quality pictures With:
amd x2 5000+ 2.61GHZ
4gb ram kingston
Digital alliance nvidia 9500GT 1gb
ddr2
I wouldn't think so, the game needs quite a bit of power and I have never heard anything good about any of the 9000 cards.
Another guy in this forum can't even run left 4 dead at max settings with a 9500gt. Although he did have the 512mb version instead of the 1gb, but we all know you need more than memory for a gpu.
I would noy count on high. But somewhere with decent middle quality settings. GTA IV loves GPU memory so you are covered with 1GB. At 1024x 768 9500GT might just do the job but don't expect to turn everything to max. Also GTA IV needs lot of processor power my Q6600 quad at 3.2GHz has around 80% load all the time across all cores, friends E2220 @3.2 GHZ pretty much constant 100% load. So Your cpu will struggle and You definately will need to turn CPU dependant settings down.
I struggle with my set up. My poor old X2 6000+ @3.3ghz really cant deliver whats needed if I turn the gfx settings up. That 5000+ is really gonna have a hard time. I have a slightly better gfx card, the 9800GTX.
The 9800 gtx is a lot more than slightly better than his 9500, which would give him even less hope of running the game and making it look pretty at the same time.
Although you didn't say a res, it could be twice his for all I know.
