I am new to this forum but have a question. I am not sure if I am asking in the right place. Please bear with me. I bought the following machine and am wondering if I will be able to play any of the more modern games like crysis on med or even lower settings without video card upgrade:

Gateway DX4720-01h
Quad Core CPU Q8200 - 2.33mhz
FSB 1333Mhz
4gig Ram
700gig HD
Windows Vista 64bit
Video Card: Ati HD 3650 (lower end I know but not integrated.)

Not interested in doing a video card upgrade for a few months yet.

Also when I upgrade my card I know I have a PCI express slot so I think I should be able to upgrade to one of the latest cards. May need to upgrade power supply too. Anyone have any comments on this or know what my current power supply wattage would be?

Lastly I know the card is weak but what of the rest of the machine? I know the Q6600 is getting better reviews but I have no plans to overclock. Is this still a decent machine for gaming if I upgrade the card down the road or it limited?

Thanks.

Looks like a good enough machine except for the graphics card. what sort of resolution are you looking to game at?

Crysis at 1280x1024 on High detail is 12fps. I think you're going to struggle with crysis, but some other modern games should be within reach

Thanks for the quick reply mi1ez.

I am willing to goto low settings if it will play Crysis. Do you think it might?

Also do you think I might be able to put a newer card in that will allow me to play it well with the rest of my system parameters?

I can't find any info on your PSU, but given the 3650 needs no PCIe power connectors from the PSU, the psu probably doesn't have them in which case you will need a new PSU also.
