Annoying icons appear on DeskTop

I removed the McFee virus protection that was pre loaded on my Dell PC
as it had expired as it only came with a 90 day free trial offer, now I
get two annoying Icons that say that McFee virus scan online can not be
found and that the Security Center also, to reinstall, I can not as I
have removed them.This happens when I start up my PC and Windows Desk
Top appears. Any suggestions.

Go to Start | Run and type 'msconfig' (without the quotes). Under the
Startup tab look to see where this is starting from. It should be listed.
Some people will tell you that you can simply uncheck the box next to the
program you want not to run but msconfig is meant for diagnostic purposes
only. Once you have found where it is starting from then go there to remove
it. It could be in one of three or four different places.
