Hey.... Just wondering if anyone out there is using the gigabyte 8INXP mobo with SATA. The reason I'm asking is that dispite having sata raid there is no option in the bios to boot from sata. I was hoping to buy a sata drive and boot from it but It's unclear whether this will work.

Any ideas or experience would help...

Thanks...

I'm having the same problem with my A7N8x. I posted a week or so about it, but no answers yet. No word back from ASUS support, either. It won't boot from my RocketRaid adapter or my SATA port(s). Perhaps an nForce issue?

From the Gigabyte manual:

<font color=blue>"Set in the BIOS as follow:

Advanced BIOS features--> SATA/RAID/SCSI boot order: "SATA"

Advanced BIOS features--> First boot device: "SCSI"

Integrated Peripherals--> Onboard H/W Serial ATA: "enable"

Then it depends on the SATA mode that you need to set "RAID" to RAID mode or "BASE" to normal ATA mode in the item named Serial ATA function."</font color=blue>

Looks like as far as the BIOS is concerned, SATA = SCSI, so under "SCSI" settings you have to tell it to boot from SATA first...

Since you have a SATA add-in card, you would probably follow the instructions above, only leave the Onboard H/W SATA option at : "Disable."

Not sure though, cuz I don't have this board.

Yeah see I also picked that up I was hoping someone could confirm that scsi is indeed sata in that case. It's a big ambiguous. Presumably if you can create a sata array you can boot from it... I gues I may have to bight the bullet it no one else comes forward...

I'll give it one more shot on the SCSI setting. It didn't do anything last time I did this but perhaps I can play with it. My SATA ports disable w/ a jumper, so that part is simple. All of my drives have IDE-SATA adapters, so they can plug into the board or the RAID adapter.
