Ok, I just ordered all the parts for my new 800Mhz FSB rig (sans MB since currently out of stock). Lay it on me, what do all you "pros" think?

P4 3.0GHz 800MHz FSB
Giga-Byte GA-8KNXP (non Ultra, don't need the SCSI for $150 more)
Corsair TWINX1024-3200LLPT
2 x WD 80GB 8MB Cache drives (setting up in RAID0)
2 x Abit SATA Adapters for the drives
Lite-On LTR-52246S 52x24x52 CDRW
ThermalRight SLK-800-U
Thermaltake SMART CASE FAN II (for the CPU Heatsink)
Antec TRUE 481 PSU

Whatcha think?

I also ordered another 3Ware 7500-8 IDE RAID Controller for my server. Now I'll finally be able to add these new drives I have waiting for it to push me over 2TB of diskspace! woohoo!!

Come on, let me have it!

Looks very close to what I've got...I like that 8KNXP motherboard in terms of the specs and construction. I just got it today...waiting on the processor which I ordered about an hour ago. I'm hoping it will be an easy install.

You got the TWIN RAM whereas I got two 512 meg sticks of Corsair XMS PC3500.

You got WD, I got Seagate.

I got a 430 watt Antec Truepower.

In other words, I like the system dude.

Might wanna ditch the twinx and buy seperate sticks of the CMX512-3500C2... there was some problem or another with the LL designated sticks of corsair with the canterwood chipset I think...

I'll give it a go. If there's problems then I'll either RMA or use them in another system.

Good news! NewEgg got the GA-8KNXP's (non-Ultra) in so now I won't have to wait! I guess it pays to check newegg's site 3 or 4 times an hour! haha

Update... Was having problems running the Corsair TwinX1024-PC3200LLPT memory at standard 2-2-2-6 settings. Basically it would crash all the time. The only way I could get the system to run semi stably was to use only one stick of memory and set the BIOS to the "Fail-Safe Defaults".

Tonight I threw the other stick in and set the timings to 2-3-3-7 and so far so good!!

I did notice, however, that on Corsair's forum, one of their techs posted this..

Well for any MB with the Intel 875 or 865 chipset we would suggets the CMX512-3500C2 as it will leave more room to grow or over clock with this chipset. The CMX512-3200C2 will also work but our Low latency is not suggetsed for this chipset at this time.

I posted a question to him in reference to the LL RAM, and exactly what the problem was, and I'm awaiting the reply. Here's the full thread if anyone's interested

Based on the problems I've had, as well as this statement, I may opt to exchange the TwinX for the CMX512-3500C2, but I want to see what their response to my post is first.
