I have a constrained budget and hence i have come down to these two options.....
1) Intel E5200 & Palit 9800GT or
2) Intel Q6600 & Palit 9600GT
Rest of the config...
MSI P43 NEO
2GB DDR2 800MHz Kingston
500GB WD Caviar GP
400W PSU
I intend to play games like Crysis n FallOut 3 at 1440 x 900 ( 19" WideScreen Monitor ) at atleast medium quality settings...

option uno.
E5200 is a sexy overclocker and the 9800 > 9600 by a good way.
Certainly much more than 4 cores > 2 cores.

You should get medium outta crysis at 25-30fps.

You should be able to play fallout 3 pretty easily maxed out 2xaa. On my old 8800GT e6750 based system it ran fine on those settings with the odd spike of slow down(just barely noticeable).

The fallout3 engine is a optimized, slightly better looking version of the oblivion engine. If you can run oblivion on your machine you can run fallout even better. Thats how it is for me, oblivion ran crappier on that machine than fo3.

forget those 2 cards, the HD 4850 or the 4830 will easily top them.
if you really wanna stay with Nvidia i would go with the 9800gtx+ ( its really cheap now..) if you get an 9800 or 9600, you'll upgrade an year later.

4850 is great bang for the buck and plays most my games at 1920x1200 (crysis & stalker CS in DX10, not so much cause I like to crank all effects)
