Hi. Here is my experience repairing said game, in the hope that it might be of use to others.

When turning on the game, self test says U36 is bad, and the background graphics where corrupted.

Searching the internet, I was not able to locate the original part MB84256-70LL (RAM chip at U36), so I started looking at the data sheets of similarly numbered and similarly looking ICs on other game boards until I ran onto an W24258S-70LE on a NeoGeo single slot system, with the following info silkscreened under the board:

SNK
NEO-MVH MV1C
MADE IN JAPAN
© SNK 1999
1999.4.30

Using a soldering iron and a jewelers flat screwdriver I as able to, with some effort, remove both chips. Then I installed the replacement chip, and even thought the soldering job sort of sucks, the MK game now works great.

An older SNK system has the part CXK58257AM-12L, but being slower (120ns vs 70ns for the original part) I am not sure it will work.
