Well I just got back from seeing Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. i won't give anything away but i will say hands down this is a film you will want to see. Lucas did not drop the ball on this one. I have heard people who saw it before say it makes TPM look much better, and after seeing AOTC, I tend to agree. Jar Jar is hardly in the movie at all, major improvement. Hayden Christensen is excellent as Anakin Skywalker and Ewan Mcgregor has assumed the role of Obe One Kenobi quite nicely. I will say a word about the whole Star Wars Vs. Spiderman thing. I saw and very much enjoyed Spiderman, it was well done and enjoyable. That having been said there is no comparison about which film is better. AOTC wins hands down. You will/should not be disappointed if you see this film, it is very well done, the action scenes in this movie are unreal. I have to see AOTC on a digital screen, i didn't notice any of the graininess that ebert was talking about when digital material is transferred to film. I could probably talk about this film for a while but i have to get a couple hours of sleep before i go to work. Hope everyone who see's will enjoy it as much as i did.

I just saw AOTC today, It was good I will admit, dunno wether it was my cinema or the way it was meant to be but there was a definate lag between the asteriods blowing up and the noise, I know thats the way it would be but no one ever goes to a Sci fi movie expecting realism, dont get me wrong cos Im a HUGE sci fi nut, but Im also a graphic artist, and all things considered I prefered Lord of the rings, Maybe Im a biased New Zealander
Kinda looking foward to how Annakin goes to the dark side, thought it happened in this movie for a minute, Those that have seen it will know where I mean

it wasnt as good as i hoped it would be...it was a good movie though...but i expected Annakin to kick more a$$ in this movie....and for some reason...it seemed that the jedi's were weaker in this movie than in ep. I.
but my favorite part is the yoda light saber fight scene at the end of the movie....that scence looked great (although it was shorter than i wanted it to be).
another thing is that the beginning of the movie seemed slow...it may have been just me....i dunno....
but im still pretty dissappointed at the fact that niether obi won nor annakin could beat ducoo at the end of the movie....i thought annakin could take him but he lost his arm instead...

Don't worry too much in space there are actually NO noises at all since there is no atmosphere to carry sound so any explosions etc are completely unrealitic anyway if they go BOOM audibly

Dungeon Siege is awesome, but it has the crappiest visual optimizations EVER. Such an extremly poor performance on my XP1600 with GF3 Ti200, is very disappointing. I have yet to see a game come such unoptimized. I mean you barely got any detail, even with 4 on screen it drops to 25 FPS on 800*600. Disabling shadows and detail entirely puts it to 40...hardly impressive.

i have noticed that a lot of the critics tend to frown on this film, especially for the dialogue. true it is not going to win any dialogue awards, but it is much better than tpm. there are some classic lines in aotc. i am going to see it again tonight

Wow 2 times in ONE DAY!

Ok now I might be the only sane person here to say this, but why in the world did everyone detest Jar-jar other than those who took it as racial? I mean I found him ok, funny at times, but geez what gave him the hate tag?

Tell me.. with full object detail, complex shadows, 1024*768 or 800*600 AND EAX and Raised app priority?

If yes, is it constant above 30FPS?

If not, you are like me, I live the 20FPS lives in this game. It's horrible, and non-sense when games like Aquanox, run smoother all the time, with tons more action, tons more detail to look at with particles flying everywhere. No, this game has a very disappointing coding, or card compatibility. Matisaro can also confirm this.

i don't know. i never was a star wars geek. but i did like the first 3. the way i know a lot of people look at it was the originals were revolutionary as far as special effects and the first story. i think a lot of people were let down by phantom because there was nothing that broke the barrier in todays movies, unless you count it as the first hollywood feature to be shot totally in dv revolutionary. there were a couple other things cg related, but nothing compared to when star wars hit the scene. i'll wait til it comes to dvd or payper view to see it. i dozed off and left half way through phantom. so this time around, i'll save myself the trip and anyways i prefer my couch or bed for a good nap 8)

Reply to mbetea

The lag in sound was done on purpose, to simulate that you would not be able to hear it until it actually hit you (I think).

One thing everybody should do!!!

See this movie on a digital screen! The colors are soooo much brighter, amazing really. Over all it was much better then the last but still nothing compared to the original.

And anyways, wasn't the explosives seismic shocks or something like that? And yeah, it was probably to simulate the "noise" traveling. I would have thought Dooku would've lost to Yoda... I also thought that the massive fight was quite impressive.

re: Yoda .. where the Fvck did Yoda pickup all the Ninja Skils? Did we miss him calling all those little Jedi "Glasshopper" ?

has Yoda been reading "little Gamers" or something ?

oh yeah.. and THAT's where all those Storm Troopers came from.. although you'd figure that the imperium would build NEW armor for them wouldnt you.. rather than just picking up the peices...

i thought it was too long.. too much lovey dovey stuff between anarkin and that bird (cant remember her name)
i thought it was abit naff to be honest. better than the first but only just. best bits i thought were the jedis v droids and yoda with a light sabre! i like the way he comes hobbling in like a real old decrepid man and the drops his staff and pulls his lightsabre!! is it just me or was his sabre shorter than dooku's? yoda rules!

I'm out of my mind, but feel free to leave a message.

Yeah I thought some of the acting was really really extremely bad. Like when Annikin was like telling Natalie how much he loved her and stuff, and he was acting like a malester or something. He talked as though he were acting a Shakespeare play... Other than that, I thought it was quite amazing.

One of the effects I noticed that carried over from the original series was when the larger doors closed, you could see the film jerk like the doors took so long, they sped the film up. I guess that is like an Easter Egg for the movie, but would not have been disappointed if the doors closed smoother like turbolift doors on Star Trek ships.

I couldn't stand the guy who played Anakin, but I guess he wasn't any worse than Luke "whine til the cows come home" Skywalker.

Yoda kicks ass, they mentioned earlier that he was quite the swordsman, so you should've seen that coming.

Natalie Portman is hot, but there was too much soap opera crap going on between her and Anakin. Especially with some of the things he was saying. "I killed them all. Not just the men, but the women and children too." Time for a restraining order, Senator Amidala.

Kinda interesting seeing Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, though. Nice touch, some people think Aunt Beru is hot, don't know where that comes from though.

Jango was cool, I didn't realize until after the movie that Boba was Jango's clone. I kept expecting a second guy to come out from the shadows.

BTW, how many lightsabers did Anikan go through? I remember him breaking at least two, and almost losing another (the one Obi-Wan caught).

Yea, like when she fell form the spacecraft and hit the sand then rolled a mile.
As she is lying there writhing in pain the storm trooper says “are you alright?”

“yes” and just jumps right up! Definitely the worst scene in the movie.

a female friend of mine went to see it on the weekend, and she thought the acting was hideously bad (her words, not mine!)

she too thought that it was wrong to have a 21 y.o. actor playing a 16 y.o. boy as it make anakins whiney nature look all the worse.

least she liked the special effects somewhat

Just saw it digitally and I though it kicked some serious tail. My only complaint was that there was TOO MUCH character developement on the part of Anakin. I think we get the point that he's got some issues that won't be resolved until Return of the Jedi.

I liked the way they developed the Skywalker family tree and how they pointed out who was an apprentice and who was a master all the way up to Yoda. Is Mace Yoda's apprentice as well though?

Some of those scenes made me drop my chin and I couldn't believe that they actually put Yoda in combat. He's badass. I can't wait to see him top that in EP III.

Why was Amidala so powerfull though? It seemed almost as if she was a Jedi as well. Anakin was a pansy compared to her.

asides from the fact yeah amadalia should have like backed away and stopped returning his calls right then.

That segment, the rage, the anger, he was bragging about what he did, he was crying sure, but I think he was sad over his mother, he hated those tuskans, he murdered them all, and he liked it, that kid is [-peep-] vader.

Kudos to the actor imo.

Amadalia was kicking ass with her blaster but anakin was guarding her the whole time, protected from shots like a jedi, and able to shoot at enemies, best of both worlds=amadalia kicks ass.

Yoda rocked, I think he was hiding his true ability or he must of used some jedi power to beef himself up. IMO though, we are joing to see the jedi get their A@$es handed to them in EPIII. Boba Fet will start kicking some jedi butt. Anakin will become corrupted by the power of the force. As the jedi become weaker in numbers, the Darkside will thrive. Yoda will go into hiding or maybe he'll see the future and he's just waiting for Luke to come along.

I've got to see it again to see the details that I missed the first time. I can't wait to see how things are going to come into play in EPIII.

Reply to Harisahmed

The delay in that scene was deliberate. It was a nice new effect...since there are no sounds in space anywho...it gives it a similar feel to the atomic footage. Always takes longer for the sound to travel.

And it was an awesome movie. I had no intention of seeing it till it came out on video, but the Saturday before it's release I snagged a copy from a genrous T1 provider...and after seeing it on a fuzzy bootleg, I just had to check it out at the theatres (and who says piracy is bad, mmmkay).

Still gotta see Spidey, though...everyone is raving it.

While wearing syran-wrap speedos, my shrink had the nerve to tell me "I can cleary see yer nuts!"

And Yoda...that man kicks. Those were great moves. Didn't expect to see anthing like that in any of the movies...excellent surprise. I would like to see it again, but this time I will check out the digital show.

A lot of folks seem to think it started too slow...but did you really want to hear blasting for 3 hours! I enjoyed the plot...but there definately were some items that I could have lived without, but that's the movies: gotta attend to the masses to make it work. A little something for everyone, they say.

If you haven't seen Ep2, go see it right now! You won't be disappointed. And if you haven't seen the others...might as well wait now, and watch them after the next ep. Was a new hope episode 4? I forget these things...

Reply to siliconjon

Luckily for me, I have all 4 that are out right now... What sucks is that EPIII won't be out till 2005. SOOOOO long to wait. And yeah Yoda is sweet. I think he gets his power from maditating for like every free moment and also he is super old and must be really well trained and wise. I also can't believe Yoda can't see that Palpatine is the Dark Emperor.

My firewall tastes like burning.

Reply to Chuck232

Yeah episode 4 is "A New Hope", episode 5 "The Empire Strikes Back", and episode 6 is "Return of the Jedi". I've heard that there's also episode 7-9 or something like that. You know when Palpatine falls down the pitin episode 6? Well he doesn't die, but instead he's badly hurt so he needsto find a new body to put his mind into. Then he finds Han Solo and Leia's son or something like that. Also, he clones a jedi army or something like that....

Since EPI, Yoda has been saying that the Darkside clouds everything. It looks like the soon to be Emperor has at least as much power as Yoda. Slowly building his powerbase and always making someone else look like they are in charge.

IMO, The story so far is going pretty well. I really haven't had to time to read much SF lately, so does anyone know if these movies are supposed to follow the books?

That was the first thing that came to my mind, but I think the title has got to be a little more upbeat. Despite the fact that the jedi are going to lose alot of ground to the darkside, I don't think that Lucas would want a title where it looks like the bad guys win.

I'm leaning more towards a title that works as an introduction of the true master(s) of the darkside, like "Birth of the Empire".

The problem is, you have "Return of the Jedi", "Empire Strikes Back" and "A New Hope". What happened to the beginning of those? The new movies should be "The Empire Strikes to Defeat Hope when the Jedi First Appears".
