My linksys BEFRS41 v.2 router is currently running firmware version 1.40.2 (dated Oct 23, 2001). I haven't been experiencing any problems, but I wonder if a newer firmware would provide additional capabilities? I've read that v1.44.2 is recommended (stable and reliable). And thoughts on this?

The only thing I can offer is that the newer firmware does correct some
security issue (sorry, been too long to be more specific). Also, you will
lose SPI ... but SPI never really worked right with the SR41 anyway, so you
aren't losing much. The latest version (newer than 1.44.2) has been running
for me fine for several months.
