My friend and I are trying to play multiplayer Age of Empires 2: Conq Expansion, but we are unable to join each others' games.

We have tried Hamachi and GameRanger, we are both using the same version as well, 1.0c.

When he types in my Hamachi IP address, he can see my game, and vice versa, but when we try to join each others' games, after about 20 seconds or so it says "Unable to join."

GameRanger just returns the player not hosting back to the chat room that we started in.

Any ideas?

Does the game actually launch?

 

Are either of your names in italics in the game room in GameRanger?

 

Are you running XP or Vista?

Make sure the relevant ports are open in your firewalls.
